HAITI: Election timetable altered once again

Presidential and legislative elections will be held in Haiti on 8 January. That, at least, is the latest revised date released by the provisional electoral council (CEP) and confirmed by the interim prime minister, Gérard Latortue. Given previous postponements it cannot be considered to be set in stone. The constitutionally mandated deadline for transition of 7 February, the one seemingly unmoveable date, will no longer be met.
